I've never been to Chicago, but if their wind is stronger than Maceió's... It may as well lift me off my feet. Hey, maybe I should go there.
I notice how there are and were some contests and projects out there that asked people to show what the place they lived in was like. I never wanted to enter any of those (ok, that's a lie, I begun writing an entry for the Around the World contest, but never finished it), because I didn't want to get 'sentimental' about my town. And the comedy would only work for people who live here. So, I decided to write a somewhat informative journal on it. Mostly for myself, but if anyone finds it entertaining, let me know.

Wiki says we have the second best consumable water in Brazil. But

That sounds... too good and highly unlikely. Although, it may be truth. My grandmother does drink water from the sink - she leaves close to a water pump (or box, or whatever the term is). It just may be that this water doesn't get to most people.

We have the freakin' best beaches! But we ruin them.

We are winners in contamination of 'Blood fluke disease' caused by the parasite
Schistossoma mansoni, which is hosted by snails. Their larvae is freed in the water and just by diving in you can get sick. And then you get allergies and your liver inflates (among other stuff). That are other diseases we win in, but I thought to only mention one, as to not bore anyone. Although, we have no cases of malaria, more common in Amazonas in the Amazon forest. But we are working on it. (just kidding, I know it's not something to joke about but I didn't invent this joke, it's an in going thing).

Our federal university is the worst in the country (it's better than the paid ones, though.) But I am hoping to get in the estate university for health sciences (yes, I am probably going to med school, but shh, don't tell anyone, it's a secret). The estate university doesn't have strikes and have better equipments. But it's harder to get in (I should totally be studying right now.)

How could I forget? Speaking of health and strikes... The public service doctors started one about a month ago or so and now the other health employers are following them. Basically the only people working on the public hospitals are the military doctors who are forced to.
The doctors want better salaries (50% extra) and better working conditions. And if you think about it benefits the entire population, so there's no excuse for the governor's delay on answering or the offensive way he called our doctors terrorists.

Yesterday taxi drivers organized a protest against the increase on the gas price and stopped all traffic in a certain region (this directly affected me). Now, seriously, that was pointless. They should have protest in front of the government palace (heck, I'd support them if they destroyed it) or I don't know something else that didn't keep everyone from getting to where they needed to get.
Ah...That's it for today. See you.

Everywhere I go I'm asked if the universities stifle writers. My opinion is that they don't stifle enough of them. There's many a best seller that could have been prevented by a good teacher. --Flannery O'Connor
